The Smoky Sunrise..

In the province of British Columbia where I live it has been very dry this year.  The normal pattern is much rain in Spring, followed by a dry and hot Summer.  Unfortunately we have received very little rain this year and as a result everything is extremely dry and we have had weeks of hot temperatures and clear skies.  We are still allowed to water our lawns twice a week but I  expect that this will change shortly to hand watering of gardens only, thus ensuring that our lawns will go brown and dormant.

There are forest fires burning in several areas of the Province, and yesterday morning it was obvious how serious the situation really is.  I have never in my life experienced heavy smoke in the air with limited visibility, nor have I ever seen a ruby-red sunrise.  Normally the sunrise is a golden glow through the living room blinds, but yesterday it was a pink glow which changed through the day to bronze.

Yesterday morning being Sunday, we went to church and one of the ladies coming in asked when the sermon on Sodom and Gomorrah was to begin, such was the look of the sky.

Today it is a little less smoky, and they say the temperatures should go to seasonal normals by the end of the week.   I have been praying for rain on a daily basis because the Lord is in control of the weather,  no believing in mother nature here.

Here is my photo of yesterdays ruby-red sun and smoky skies.
