Ephesians 3:1-14
The apostle Paul was a great man in intellect, in the gospel, and in his zeal for the promotion of the gospel across the known world at that time. He was a man who trusted in providence, commissioned by God to do what he was doing, felt privileged to preach the gospel, had concern for other people, was in fellowship with God even though he was writing this epistle from prison. What type of message did he preach? Paul preached a revealed message that came to him by revelation. It was and is a message that is revealed by God and therefore it is God's message. If it is God's message it doesn't need to be adjusted by men and women who are sinful.
Paul preached a message that was and is:
A mystery: V3-4, 9 "How that by revelation he made known unto me the mystery; (as I wrote afore in few words, Whereby, when ye read, ye may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ). And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ." The message was a mystery, a hidden thing. Mystery means "a thing that is not obvious to the understanding" The gospel is not an obvious message contrary to what "easy believism" teaches. It is profound. General revelation is not enough, the creation is not enough to bring you to salvation. It leads you to believe in a creator God if you think logically, but how we can know God through general revelation remains a mystery. We need special revelation to get to know the creator God. This is found in the word of God through the prophets and apostles. The bible's message is profound and mysterious. It tells us of a holy God who is sinless and perfect.
What is God? God is a spirit: infinite, eternal and unchanging in his being, wisdom, power, holiness, justice, goodness and truth. How can this God justify sinners who are guilty and remain just and holy? It doesn't make sense that he could or would, but that is exactly what the message of the bible is. A mystery that we would not know otherwise, that God can and does justify guilty sinners upon certain conditions. And he does it in a way that his justice and holiness is retained. That is profound and amazing, not obvious, a profound mystery explained. This marvelous message has been shaken by some modern evangelists who say "You want to be saved? It is O so simple, repeat these words after me". But no! It's not O so simple. It's a profound, amazing message that God can and does save sinners. God can save sinners and give them a perfect righteousness, blotting out all their sins by punishing all those sins on his only begotten Son. He takes sinners into his own family even though they were and are guilty as charged. That is not "O so simple, repeat these words and raise your hand". The gospel is about a message that brings you into an encounter with the living Christ, by grace through faith you receive him and it changes your life, you repent of your sin and trust him. It is a mysterious, profound, amazing message. It is about Christ becoming the Lord of your life, it is not "O so simple". Modern techniques cheapen the mystery and the profundity of the gospel. They make it into a man-made "easy peasy" ritual, perform this, that and the other and you have your insurance policy to heaven but that is not what Paul preached.

What is the Gospel?
Yesterday came another reminder of the brevity of life, I heard of two deaths. Therefore I am compelled to post this very important topic called What is the Gospel? and I pray that you will read it in its entirety
What is the Gospel - 15 points
Romans 1:14-18 “I am
debtor both to the Greeks, and to the Barbarians; both to the wise and to the
unwise. So as much as in me is, I am
ready to preach the gospel to you that are at Rome also. For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ:
for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the
Jew first, and also to the Greek. For
therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is
written, the just shall live by faith.
For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and
unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;”
All your knowledge is
divided into 3 categories: 1, things
that are not important, 2 things that are important, 3 things that are
absolutely essential. You can live a
happy life without knowing certain things.
Some things are interesting, some are useful, but they are not important
that they are something you must
know. Other things are very important
that we may understanding, example: how to drive a car according to the rules
of the road, how to use a chain saw's safety rules, electrical safety.. if you
live a life without knowing important things, you might live a short life.
The gospel is
absolutely essential not only for well being, but essential for your
everlasting welfare. If you are ignorant
of the gospel for your whole life, you will be suffering the consequences one
million years from now. But if you
understand the gospel but accept it and receive it and believe it, you will be
receiving the benefits of the knowledge of the gospel in a million years time.
The gospel is the
most important subject. This is the
knowledge that we most need.. this
knowledge of the gospel is very lacking.
Not all of the gospel is preached, just the part about believing and you
are forgiven. What is the real
gospel? the biblical gospel. You must know this because if we do not know
the real gospel, how are we going to witness it to others?

True or False Christians
True or False
Christians
Matthew 7:13-27 Enter
ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that
leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: because strait
is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that
find it. Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but
inwardly they are ravening wolves,.Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of
thistles? even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree
bringeth forth evil fruit. A good tree
cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good
fruit. Every tree that bringeth not
forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know
them. Not every one that saith unto me,
Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will
of my Father which is in heaven. Many
will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and
in thy name have cast out devils? and in
thy name done many wonderful works? and then will I profess unto them, I never
knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of
mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house
upon a rock: and the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew,
and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. And every one that heareth these sayings of
mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his
house upon the sand: And the rain descended and the floods came, and the winds
blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it. And it came to pass when Jesus had ended
these sayings, the people were astonished at his doctrine: for he taught them
as one having authority, and not as the scribes.
Those that say they
are Christians when they are not, those who think they are Christians when they
are not.. the false professing Christian
is a very common condition. Most of the
Puritan works deal with this subject.
This subject and how to identify the false professing Christian is a
common theme in scripture. This is not a
popular theme. Very few people even like
to define what a Christian is anymore, now it is vague and broad. Now they say that Jesus died for our
mistakes. He did not die for our
mistakes, he died for our sin.
Now it is "lets not define it too closely".. If preachers are becoming like that no wonder
there are so many false professing Christians.
"easy believism converts"
You recognize them in these areas:
they are hostile to a holy life, they are governed by self will. They are proud of their sin, they glory in
their shame, they are consumed with a worldly mind-set. Philippians 3:17-20
"Brethren, be followers together of me, and mark them which walk so as ye
have us for an example. (For many walk,
of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the
enemies of the cross of Christ: whose end is destruction, whose God is their
belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things.) For our conversation is in heaven; from
whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ.”
The true Christian is
truly converted. Conversion is entering into new life through a narrow gate. The true Christian life proceeds onto a
narrow path where you watch your step every where you go. False conversion is shown by Christ to be
characterized by a wide gate, "my conversion is so easy" (they
say) you don't have to leave much
behind, its effortless, it proceeds onto a wide path where you don't have to
watch how you walk and you can live as you please. The life of a hypocrite. The false Christian is characterized by a
conversion where sin was not left behind and an unholy life where care is not
taken to follow God's will. No
repentance from sin and an unholy life of disobedience to the bible.
